If you spotted our recent moodboard, you’ll have seen we’re taking inspiration from Morocco for our July 2019 limited edition craft kit.

The colours, patterns and energy of the country have infused into this project… and it’s a lot of fun to make too!

Let’s walk you through...

We’re loving these materials! The pouch you see is made of something called ‘paper leather’ - it’s completely paper based (no actual leather in sight) but strong enough to be made into pouches like this one. It comes with a lovely crinkle texture through it, and it’ll weather and feel more like leather as you use it.

The pouch is premade, approx 21 x 13 cm, and comes with a detachable strap with golden clasp, so you can use it as a pencil case, make up bag - or for a girls night out!

And the project? Well, you’ll be embroidering the paper!

If you’ve not tried sewing through paper before, it’s more lovely than you might expect! It has a soft ‘swooosh’ sound as the thread pulls through, and it’s so satisfying to see your design emerge.

The design is directly inspired by Moroccan rugs and the splayed leaves of palm trees - can you see it?

We’ll show you step by step how to puncture the template pattern into your pouch, then sew the design on with the soft cotton cord.

It’s a great one to personalise too, so if you’d like to create your own design, draw it on a piece of paper, follow our steps to add it to your pouch, and away you go!

Everything you need is in the box, with full photo instructions (and a video tutorial below) - you’ll just need a pair of scissors.
