For this project, we’re exploring one our favourite macrame knots of all - the gathering knot!
You’ll be building up gathering knots to form a placemat that would look gorgeous on a dining table or side table. It’s a mindfully repetitive process that you’ll find a relaxing rhythm to as you knot the time away without even noticing...
This kit was posted June 2021.
The great thing about macrame and knotting is that you can do it anywhere - with sunnier days ahead, take it outside to the park or garden. Or could knot your placemat whilst watching your favourite programme or with a podcast in the background.
Once complete, it makes the ideal base for popping bowls of fruit or your favourite key bowl onto.
The kit has everything you’ll need to create your knotted placemat. Your box includes:
- Soft thick cotton rope
- Dusky pink yarn
- Sandcastle coloured yarn
- Grey yarn
- Sewing needle
- Sewing thread
- Thimble
As ever, you’ll also have step-by-step photo instructions and a video tutorial online to make it easy to follow along.
With lovely muted tones of yarn, you’ll gradually grow your placemat by wrapping the yarn around the soft rope, then using stitches to bind it together.
The pastel and natural shades you’re using inspire feelings of calm and we find it’s a perfect process to embrace slow crafting and mindfulness.
It’s time to get knotting!
