While winter’s chill still nips in the air, we’re slowly coming out of hibernation and nesting mode.
These late winter and early spring months still encourage a cosiness in our homes, and we’ve put together some of our favourite Craft Ideas for Early Spring to make the most of them!
Collaging
Collaging can be a really therapeutic and fun craft as it’s so experimental and free. Use old magazines and newspapers for text and patterns, but you can also create your own materials to use with ink and paints.
We love mixed media collages that include found objects, like the leaves, feathers or flowers you might gather on a walk.
It’s a wonderful way to catalogue thoughts and feelings in a creative and abstract way, or can just be a visually pleasing piece of art to add to your wall!
Soap Making
Soap-making is a very satisfying process that can uplift spirits instantly with sweetly scented essential oils. If you include citrusy oils like verbena and orange, the soap has a brightening and energising quality that we could all use as we head into Spring!
You can also include some dried petals and herbs in the mix for extra texture, a vibrant scent and lovely look.
Knitting
If nothing else, the warmth of the yarn will take the bite off those cold mornings! Scarves and snoods are the most basic knitting patterns, but we love a hand-knitted hat to keep our ears toasty…
And it’s a lovely repetitive craft to do in front of the TV!
Embroidered Tea Towel
Our March project is one that will take us firmly into Spring, a season we’re definitely looking forward to this year!
Embroidery is a calming craft that has so much variety - it’s almost like painting with thread! The kit features a celestial scene stitched onto a tea towel, which you can find out more about here.
