This month we’re making magical UV Wind Chimes that sparkle in the sunshine and gently chime in the breeze ✨

Using colourful UV-reactive beads, chime tubes, and a wooden ring, you’ll create your very own hanging decoration that changes colour in the light and glows in the dark 🌈☀️

🎁 What’s Inside Your Kit

Make sure you’ve got everything ready:

• 1 wooden ring with 6 holes
• 1 teardrop bead
• UV beads in pink, purple, and clear
• 6 chime tubes
• String
• Hanging hook

You’ll also need from home:

• Scissors ✂️
• A ruler
• A flat crafting surface

✂️ Step 1: Measure & Cut Your String

First, we need to cut the strings for the wind chime strands.

Using your ruler:

• Measure 35cm of string
• Cut 6 pieces this length
• You should also have 1 slightly shorter piece left over — keep this safe for the middle bead later

💡 A handy trick:
Hold the string at the 30cm mark, then measure back to 25cm to make 35cm total.

Once you’ve cut one piece, use it as a guide for the rest.

🪵 Step 2: Attach the Strings to the Wooden Ring

Take your wooden ring and one piece of string.

• Measure about 20cm down the string
• Feed the string through one hole in the ring
• Tie a simple knot underneath
• Feed the string back through the hole

This helps the string hang neatly straight down.

Repeat this for all 6 holes.

💡 Don’t worry if the knots aren’t perfect — they’ll still look lovely!

🌈 Step 3: Sort Your UV Beads

Time for the fun part!

Some of your beads are UV-reactive, which means they change colour in sunlight ☀️

To help sort them:

• Work near a window
• Watch the clear beads change colour in the light
• Separate the beads into colours and types

💡 If you want a surprise effect later, you can mix them up instead!

🧵 Step 4: Thread Your Beads

Now it’s time to decorate each hanging strand.

Here’s the bead pattern used in the tutorial:

1. Dark UV bead
2. Purple bead
3. Light UV bead
4. Pink bead
5. Dark UV bead
6. Purple bead
7. Light UV bead
8. Pink bead
9. White butterfly bead

Thread the beads carefully onto each string.

💡 If the string frays, twist the end tightly to make threading easier.

Repeat for all 6 strands.

🎵 Step 5: Add the Chime Tubes

Take one chime tube and thread the string through the side hole.

Now:

• Tie a knot underneath
• Leave a little space so the tube can move and swing freely

💡 If the knot is too tight against the tube, it won’t chime properly.

Double-knot it to keep it secure.

Repeat for all 6 strands.

🪝 Step 6: Add the Hanging Hook

Lay your wind chime flat on the table.

Gather:

• 3 strings from one side
• 3 strings from the other side

Tie them together using a simple knot.

Before tightening fully:

• Lift the wind chime
• Check that it hangs evenly

Once you’re happy, tighten and double-knot it.

Now attach your hanging hook or loop by tying it securely onto the top knot.

💎 Step 7: Add the Teardrop Bead

Take your spare shorter piece of string.

• Thread it through the teardrop bead
• Tie a knot underneath, leaving a little movement

Now attach this to the centre of the wooden ring.

💡 The bead should hang about the same height as the chime tubes so it can gently tap them in the breeze.

Double-knot to secure.

✂️ Step 8: Tidy Up

Use your scissors to carefully trim any extra string ends.

⚠️ Be careful not to cut too close to the knots.

This helps your wind chime look neat and tidy.
