If you’ve got your Fox Thought Journal kit ready, you’re in exactly the right place. This cosy little project is all about creating a special notebook where thoughts, feelings, affirmations, doodles and ideas can live safely together – guarded by the cleverest fox around.

Grab a comfy spot, pop the kettle on (for the grown‑ups 😉), and let’s make something lovely.

What’s Inside Your Kit 📦

Before we begin, let’s check you’ve got everything you need:

• 🧡 A5 notebook – your fox’s new home

• ✨ Self‑adhesive glitter foam (for hats, scarves and accessories)

• 👀 Googly eyes

• 🧴 PVA glue

• 🧵 Soft felt in various colours

• 🟤 Stiff brown felt (for the fox’s body)

• 📄 Printed templates (labelled for each piece)

You’ll also need from home:

• ✂️ A pair of scissors

• 🖊️ A pen or pencil

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Cut Out Your Templates ✂️

Carefully cut out all the template pieces first. Take your time – some bits are a little fiddly, so it’s absolutely okay to ask a grown‑up for help.

Top tip: Cutting everything out at the start makes the rest of the project much easier.

Step 2: Make the Fox’s Body 🦊

1. Find Template Number 1 – this is the fox’s body.

2. Take your stiff brown felt.

3. Flip the template over and place it onto the felt.

4. Draw around the shape with your pen.

Don’t worry about neatness! Flipping the template means any pen marks will end up on the back and won’t be seen later.

Once traced, carefully cut out your fox body. When you turn it over – ta‑da! No pen marks in sight.

Step 3: Add the Fox’s Face and Feet 🐾

Face Pieces

• Use Template Number 2.

• Trace these onto your light cream or beige felt.

• This felt is softer, so pen marks might show while you’re working – that’s totally fine.

Feet Pieces

• Use Template Number 3.

• Trace and cut these from the dark brown felt.

A handy tip: Trace all pieces you need onto the felt before cutting. That way you know you’ve got enough space and nothing gets forgotten.

Step 4: Create the Stack of Books 📚

Your fox needs something to sit on!

1. You’ll find two book templates – one long and one short.

2. Choose your green felt colours (all one colour or a mix – totally up to you).

3. You’ll need:

   • 1 long book

   • 3 short books

4. Trace, then cut them out.

There’s no right or wrong here – make them as colourful or coordinated as you like.

Step 5: Plan Your Layout 🧠

Before gluing anything down:

1. Place your A5 notebook in front of you.

2. Lay the fox roughly in the middle.

3. Position the books underneath.

This dry run helps you decide exactly where everything should go before things get sticky.

Step 6: Glue Everything Down 🧴

Once you’re happy with the layout:

1. Apply PVA glue to the felt pieces (not the notebook).

2. Spread the glue right to the edges.

3. Place each piece onto the notebook and gently rub to secure it.

Good news: PVA glue gives you a bit of wiggle time, so you can adjust pieces if they’re not perfect straight away.

Repeat until your fox and books are all attached.

Step 7: Eyes and Nose 👀

Now your fox really comes to life!

Googly Eyes

• These are self‑adhesive – peel and stick.

• If they’re being fiddly, use a tiny bit of PVA glue instead.

• Give them a firm press so they stick properly.

Nose

• Add PVA glue to the felt, not the nose.

• Press the nose on gently.

Now comes the hardest part… waiting!

👉 Leave your journal to dry for a few hours (24 hours is best).

Step 8: Accessorise Your Fox ✨🎩

Once everything is dry, it’s time for the fun extras!

You can choose from:

• A hat

• A scarf

• A bag

• Or invent your own accessories

Using the Glitter Foam

• There’s a shiny side and a plain side.

• Always draw your templates onto the plain side.

Cut out your chosen pieces, then:

1. Place them on the fox before peeling the backing.

2. Once happy, peel and stick.

3. Press firmly – especially where felt meets notebook.

Mix colours, add sparkle, go wild – this is your journal.
