Included in Your Kit:

  • 100 x Wooden Beads (14mm)

  • 100ml Holly Green Dye

  • Metallic Gold Marker Pen

  • White Beading Cord

  • Tapestry Needle

  • Plastic Mixing Container

  • Disposable Gloves

  • Wooden Stirring Stick

You’ll Also Need:

  • Kitchen Towel or Tissue

  • Scissors

Key Tips:

  • Wear your gloves while dyeing the beads and protect your work surface and clothing, as the dye can stain.

  • You have 100 beads in total – enough to make either one three-round trivet plus one four-round trivet or three three-round trivets.

  • Please note, this craft kit is not a toy and is not intended for use by children.

Part 1: Decorating Your Beads

  1. Divide your beads according to the colours you’d like for each round.

    • Round 1: 6 beads

    • Round 2: 12 beads

    • Round 3: 18 beads

    • Round 4: 24 beads

  2. Fill your plastic container halfway with lukewarm water.

    • Pour one-third of the dye into the water and mix thoroughly with the wooden stick.

    • Add the beads you’d like to dye.

  3. Stir beads occasionally for 20–60 minutes. The longer they stay in the dye, the deeper the colour.

    • Remove and place beads on tissue to dry for 8–10 hours.

  4. Decorate your beads with the metallic gold pen.

    • Try stripes, dots, squiggles, or half-painted beads for a unique design.

Part 2: Assembling Your Trivets

  1. Cut a length of beading cord: 2m for a small trivet, 4m for a large trivet.

  2. Thread your needle and string six beads for round one. Leave a 15cm tail, form a circle, and tie a knot.

  3. Continue adding beads for rounds two, three, and four following the threading patterns.

  4. Fasten off by knotting the cord securely, trimming any excess.

Your trivet is now complete and ready to use!

How Long Does This Tutorial Take?

Creating your beaded trivet will take around 2 hours, plus approximately 8–10 hours drying time. You can spread this over multiple crafting sessions.

🎨 Make It Your Way:

  • Lighten Up: Adjust the dye bath to create a deeper or lighter green.

  • Vary Your Beads: Change the order of your beads or mix colours for a completely unique design.
