This warm weather seems to be holding up for us in the UK and it's just too hot to be cooped up inside! So, we've rounded up the best of the best when it comes to outdoor crafting.
Think up-cycling an old pallet, foraging for nettles and flowers to create something beautiful and using those sun rays we have in abundance for the cyanotype process...
Pressed Flower Frame
With so many lovely wild flowers around this would make a great craft for a summer day. The effect of pressed flowers in the glass frame is so stunning and we think this tutorial from Lily Ador is so well put together and inspiring. Side note: try not to pick too many, just a very select few as we need to leave most for the bees!
Natural Dyeing with Nettles
Last summer, we enjoyed playing with Japanese Shibori dyeing. It's also a great time of year for getting outside and experimenting with natural dyes. We love the idea of foraging for the materials and this is a lovely post from Rebecca Desnos on dyeing with nettles (which are plentiful right now!). The green-grey soft hue created from nettle-dyeing is just lovely...
Salvaged Pallet Garden
This is a perfect DIY for anyone with limited outdoor space...pallets are pretty easy to get hold of and the way Deborah from Pure Sweet Joy has re-imagined this one is inspiring! You could create a mini herb garden or fill with lovely flowers - either way, it makes a lovely addition to any space!
Cyanotype Greetings Cards
Finally, we have share one our favourite past kits - Cyanotype Greetings Cards - which are just made for sunny days. Cyanotype is a photographic printing process that uses sunlight to expose images and shapes, revealing a lovely indigo blue colour. Any outdoor space will do - garden, park or even a square of concrete. Just use it as an opportunity to enjoy the sunshine!
