For this moodboard, we’re taking inspiration from our feathered friends!
From looking at the colour and patterns of birds' coats to the way they build their homes, to the sense of freedom they inspire, we've created the prompts below to spark your creativity this month...
- Look at the textures of birds coats. They could be delicate and fine or fluffy and cute; how could you incorporate these textures into your own work? We're thinking gorgeous, soft weaves full of different fibres, or perhaps experimenting with paint in your project to create layers and depth.
- When we think about birds, one of the main things that springs to mind is the many beautiful colours & patterns in their feathers. From little robins' bold red breasts to parakeets bright coats, to peacocks' striking trains; step out of your usual palette and see where these colours and patterns take you!
- One of the most magical things about birds is the way they build their homes. Using their natural surroundings and foraging from the land, they create a place to live, keep their families and stay warm. Twigs, leaves, moss and berries are all pieces that we could use within our projects to create something unique.
- And last but not least; freedom. One of the main things that birds signify to us is a peaceful sense of freedom, and what better way to explore your creative side than with no rules? Try free hand embroidery, or start an abstract painting; often our best pieces of work are made when we loosen up.
