For this moodboard, we’re taking inspiration from the wilderness (and bringing a little of it into our home!)
Do you ever find a poem or line of text clicks into your head, and doesn’t shift, no matter how many years go by? For me, the line from Gerard Manley Hopkins’ poem Inversnaid does exactly that,
“What would the world be, once bereft
Of wet and of wildness? Let them be left,
O let them be left, wildness and wet;
Long live the weeds and the wilderness yet.”
With this month’s moodboard, we’ve aimed to capture some of the freshness of wet leaves, damp moss, the soft mist, an explosion of floral colour.
Here’s some creative prompts to get you started...
- Take a walk you’ve never taken before. The ‘public footpath’ sign you’ve never wandered down, the shortcut you never tried. What do you find?
- Bring some beauty into your home with fresh flowers - they’re in season now so plenty to choose from. Look for colours or shapes that inspire you - and draw them.
- Press some flowers or ferns - you could use a flower press, or if they’re already dry enough, simply place them between the pages of a large book (and enjoy the surprise of finding them again later!)
This moodboard inspired our Wilderness Candleholders project. Orders for that kit have now closed, but if you’d to join us for our next kit, you’ll find more information below.
