‘Tis officially the season, and what better way to get yourself feeling festive than by getting stuck into some Christmas crafting?
There’s nothing quite like snuggling up, sticking your favourite Christmas film on (hello The Holiday), and letting your creative side take over! Whether you opt for traditional Christmas themes, love scandi simplicity, or like making a statement with retro kitsch styles, get creative this Christmas with some of our favourite crafts...
1. Garlands
There are so many options to choose from when it comes to making a lovely Christmas garland; there really is no right or wrong. For a more modern look, experiment with pom poms, tassels and macrame or keep it classic with a collection of pine cones, dried oranges and a few golden bells for good measure!
2. Needle felt decorations
Because what is Christmas without felted decorations?! Robins, little mice, Christmas puddings, the list goes on!... Needle felting is a super easy and adaptable way to create gorgeous decorations that will sit pretty in your tree. If you’re new to this craft, pop over here to our needle felted bird tutorial to see what you’ll need and how to get going - he’s such a sweet chappy!
3. Wreaths
It’s not just about having traditional foliage wreaths anymore; the craft world is being taken over by pom pom, macrame and felt wreaths too. Do something a little different this year and let your imagination run wild with unique designs!
4. Festive stationery
Make Christmas even more personal this year with hand-stamped gift tags or your own greetings cards. You could craft your own seasonal stamps using sponges, or try your hand at stenciling and brush calligraphy!
5. Advent Calendar
Buck the trend and make your own advent calendar this year. A lovely way to make a little Christmas tradition that you can get out year after year, you could make your own felt calendar in the shape of a tree or bunting with each day pegged up. And the best bit - you can pick all your fave sweet treats to go in them!
We hope we've inspired some Christmas crafting, and if you create any of the above - or your own Christmas projects - please tag us on Instagram using #acraftiositychristmas - we'd love to see your makes.
